The Plumbing Skill Area at the 2017 Skills Canada National Competition in Winnipeg, MB.

The 2023 Skills Canada National Competition (SCNC), where Canada’s best students and apprentices in skilled trades and technologies will compete to become the national champion in their respective discipline, is taking place from May 24 to 27, at the RBC Convention Centre in Winnipeg.

The event welcomes over 550 competitors from across the country who will compete in 45 skilled trade and technology competitions. Included among the 45 trade skills are plumbing, steamfitter/pipefitter and refrigeration/air conditioning.

Among the many main sponsors of the competition are UA (United Association) Canadian Piping Trades [Presenting Sponsor]; Viega [Official Sponsor]; Mechanical Contractors Association of Canada (MCAC) [Supporting Sponsor].

And, among the competition’s gold-level supplier sponsors: —American Standard, RIDGID, and Victaulic.

As the official plumbing supplier, American Standard will supply products and expertise to the participants. Competitors in the plumbing category will have the opportunity to work with wall hung sinks, faucets, and showerheads during the two-day event.

The Skills Canada National Competition is a qualifying year for the 2024 WorldSkills Competition. The selected candidates from 26 of the skill areas will go on to compete at the 2024 WorldSkills Competition, in Lyon, France.

The WorldSkills Competition occurs every two years and is the biggest vocational education and skills excellence event in the world, gathering competitors from up to 85 WorldSkills Member countries and regions.
